Temple donation thefts and possible solutions
After hearing the shocking news of Ayodhya Ram Mandir donation theft and earlier gold theft from Sabarimala temple, I really feel the need of a proper well-managed organizational structure at national level (not necessarily govt controlled) to collect the donation money of temples and properly utilize it in building schools that could provide good cultural, moral and religious values to the students.
Especially, at such a time when selfishness in people is so high that they can even kill their life partners to fulfill their selfish motives, one has to think as to where the modern education is lacking. News regarding death cases of Twisha Sharma in Indore, Ketan Agarwal in Pune, Raja Raghuvanshi in Shillong and many more such cases from different part of our country in recent past prove the growing level of inhumanity among people in India, the land where devoted women like 'Savitri and Seeta mata' had taken birth.
In the modern times, when both the parents are busy earning money and are not able to give proper attention, care and guidance to their children, the requirement of good schools with highly moral, religious and spiritual environment is deeply felt. I believe that by instilling good values in children, teaching them Karma-theory given in our ancient scriptures, educating them about impermanence and inferiority of material gains as compared to spiritual gains and proper channelizing their energy, we can produce better citizens.
However, what to expect from the common people when the people associated with pious temples are involved in corruption now a days? We need devoted and honest people in our society if we want our country to grow and shine. Merely blaming government or others for everything wouldn't solve the problem. However, I believe that Government can play a major role in sorting out such issues as financial irregularities in religious institutions.
Government can approach the temple authoritues of the major temples of India and motivate them to come together to constitute a national institution (be it govt, semi-govt or private but transparent) that can use the donated money in social welfare works like opening schools (with quality education) and hospitals (with quality treatment) in India.
This move, on one hand would help manage the huge amount of donation money and on the other hand would improve the mental dispositions of people of our country which is the ultimate aim of opening the temples, i.e. giving peace and divine knowledge to the human beings.
PS:
I am against the politicizing of this issue by opposition leaders to get benefit in ensuing UP assembly elections 2027. But I really want the temples to come together to make a collective fund to initiate good educational institutions which can provide good quality education along with religious values of Bhagwadgeeta, Upanishads, etc to the children.
